Fighting for my chickens tonight- wish me luck- UPDATE-we lost!!

I'm sorry, I know exactly how you feel, we had to get rid of our hen that turned out to be a rooster because of some jerk. We kept him inside at night until late morning. God knows there are soooo many other spine chilling noises we have to listen to all day long besides a little old rooster. I am just curious, how did the town even find out that you had chickens if your neighbors didn't know? We didn't get a visit from the cops for 6 months and only because someone called. Actually we are only allowed 5 and we have 6 and 10 more coming in late October. We have enough room for them, I don't see why it is illegal. I could understand if they were stuffed into a tiny cage and mistreated. You should get a mob of people in town to contest. That's what I want to do so we can have roosters. If people don't want to hear animals, they should move to San Franscico.

I'd like to help you out. I don't have that much free time, but I'd like to help some. Is it Pamela Knapp that gave you the problems? I'd be happy to contact her and talk with her in a professional manner. Unfortunately, I see that she's in office for another 4 years!
Any chance there is land around you that is not being used? I know someone in Macedon that is leasing land around them so they can have a horse business. Their permit is conditional on them leasing the land.

Yes it was Pamela. I don't need the land at this time. I have a friend on Daansen Rd. with 30 acres and she's got them for me at this time. I have to run right now, but you should PM me and we can talk.

* I am surprised they said, ". . .goats.", s6bee!! Usually, they say ". . .pigs." Either way, they're narrow-minded nimrods, and their decision stinks WAY WORSE than 3 little hens. Parangus faces. . . . SO sorry!!!!

I'd keep fighting too. I live in a town that has ordinances against owning chickens. I had a small bantam rooster for 8 years, was kept incognito. I now have 5 hens.
Go far so good, but always dread the day that this may happen. I live NW of Chicago....where it is legal to keep chickens.

I wish you all the best in getting your chicks home.
Congrats on your new job.
