Fighting Micoplasma, Tylan next?

I'm leaning towards mg, the vet just said micoplasma. Yes he is in the house at night/day and on the porch when its warm (we are in florida) and we are home. He has been separated for a good 2 weeks now or longer.

yes he has been separated for over 2 weeks, he has a nice place in the house and when we are home and its warm out he goes on the porch.

@misty51 , a friend of mine had a bird with a persistant respiratory infection and did like you're doing. They tried all kinds of drugs and none worked. After trying Tylan, Baytril, and maybe a third they decided to have a culture done. The bacteria were found was Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Here is a list of the drugs it was resistant to and susceptible to:

I am treating my rooster for micoplasma
he's been on Denagard and oxytetracycline for a week. I dropped the Denagard today so its day 8 for the oxytetra. I've seen a little progress, not as sleepy little less gunk in mouth but eye still swollen shut.
he is also fighting bumblefoot which is not really healing so I don't think he has much of an immune system right now.

I'm just going to follow along, but you mention that he has "gunk in his mouth"? What does this mean? Do you see any cheese like plaques or lesion inside the beak or throat?

I also agree with Kathy, getting a culture may be the best option - since your vet is helping you out, that's great. I do see bubbles in the eye(s) so I would be inclined to think you are dealing with Mycoplasma, but the bumblefoot could very well be bringing him down further as well. Also agree if you try the Tylan50 use the max dosage, but asking about the Baytril is a very good idea.

he's been separated for over 2 weeks and has a nice set up in the house and on the porch when its warm and we are home.

sorry I didn't realize I posted that statement so many times, it didn't show up on my computer until now. The gunk is saliva, I'm not sure. The vet said he had some plaque in his mouth and the gunk is from the swelling of his tissues. He wanted to do a test to see if it is mg but he wanted 75 dollars for it, I'll talk to him more about that. The bumblefoot we have been fighting for a long time.

There are only a few drugs that are banned for use in poultry, Baytril and metronidazole are two. Legally he can prescribe something like Amikacin or Zactran. Zactran is what worked for my friend.
