fighting OEGB hens

I have three OEGB hens and two of them are 1 year old's, the other is a 2 year old hen. I got the bb red 1 year old hen first, then a week later a silver duckwing hen she's two years old, then 3 week after that I got a black OEGB and have had her for a couple days. The bb red and silver duckwing finally settled and as soon as I added the other hen the silver duckwing is the meanest little chicken she is always pecking and fighting with other hen's why is she so mean, I would separate them but the only other cage I have is out side. Their is still snow on the ground and it been in the high 20's low 30's during the day and low 20's at night could I put them outside or is it still too cold?

Hi, I am a novice as well. Just got my flock last June and added two more Dec 1st. One of those girls was attacked and I had to bring her in the house to heal from a bad wound. She is still in the house. Anyway I was told that if I knew who the ring leader in the attack was to put that chicken in solitary confinment in like a cat carrier. Within the coop though so that they can still see each other. Its supposed to take her down a notch. I live in Michigan and sped a lot of time on that thread. Anyway there is a man called Opa on that thread. He is a wealth of information. I'm sure he could help you. Just PM him. Good luck. You know once they draw blood they won't leave that chicken alone untill they kill it and then they eat her.

lol I also live in michigan, and all my hens are in the basement and in a cage not a coop. I have one of those chicken in a hutch things, that I wanted to move my other hens out side but, you know how are weather can be.

OEGB's can be quite agressive with each other. I have only one roo and one hen now but used to have quite a few. There kinda lke chihuahuas...they think they are the biggest and baddest things around...Im sure you can get them to calm down it will just take patience and time...I had two hens in particular that I could never put together untill I finally gave in and let them free range. That stopped all the fighting. Good luck on what ever way you choose. ^^

do you ever let your girls out to play during the day. I live in Bay City and my girls love it. All winter they have stayed in out of their choice maybe a half dozen times. Maybe let them run around the basement. Just be prepared for the poo
