Hi!

I am brand new to raising chicks, and I have 6 buff orpingtons. I’ve had them for a couple of weeks, but from pictures I’ve seen and such, I believe they are probably 3 to 4 weeks old. They are a little way into the raptor stage, and kind of look like tiny dinosaurs. My wife and daughter and I decided we wanted to have an egg laying flock (what the guy at the tractor supply store affectionately referred to as a pet chicken). Currently we’re sitting on our hands and waiting to find out if we have to cull any (city ordinances don’t allow for roosters). Fingers crossed!

Orpingtons are a great starter breed :love Started with them, tried a few others but always come back to them. :fl you got all pullets, when they're 6wks post pictures & members love guessing the gender. Orpingtons are a large breed so hope you've got the coop/run started or done :hugs

:welcome Glad you joined us :wee

They only lasted in the box in my house for a week before they started flying up to the edge and perching. I built the coop before I got them, and they’re currently hanging outside with a lamp in their coop. I’ll post some pics at 6 weeks :)
