Final count down brooder set up

OK, we get our chicks tomorrow. I originally built this for 4 chicks, we are now getting 7! We may have to go bigger in a few weeks. DH is 6ft 4 (including him for size ref) But please advice? Am I doing it right? Is anything wrong? Missing anything? Heatplate shows 112, too high? When I touch it it drops and does not burn

Looks good to me! I use flake pine shavings tho. Otherwise looks very good from here. Just keep an eye on them for the first 3 days and adjust to them.

Do you have brooder measurements? Should be fine for the first couple of weeks at least but they'll probably need more space after that.

Is the coop already built? What were your plans for moving them out?

I do not have the measurements I'll have to check. But here they are, one chick is very loud. She is peeping at the door I walked in thru.
We are waiting on an 8 x10 ft shed to convert
And already have the run it's 208 sq feet

Congrats! I am a first time chicken owner as well. I have 10 chicks, 8 of them are a little over 9 weeks old & the other 2 are a little over 7 weeks old.

Brooder space looks fine right now but chicks grow fast so hope that shed is available soon!
