Final Flock Composition - Approve/Critique/Suggest

Good luck! Your first flock sounds like it will be great!

We have 2 barred rock hens, both are not aggressive to the flockmates at all, so might depend on the BR line.

A good natured red bird option is a Buckeye. Although I’ve never had any (yet), I consistently hear about them being good in mixed flocks with good tempements. I plan to get some in the future.

We had a silver spangled Hamburg male for 5 months. They are flighty, and from an early age ours would fly out of the run frequently. But, very attractive bird! We got rid of him bc he was supposed to be a she.

Hi! I saw this late, but I have a nine-month old RIR LF, Red Sonja, and surprisingly, she's pretty chill. She's mid-to-low in the pecking order as well, which is odd, because she's much bigger than my appenzeller spitzhaubens and golden campine and isbars. I'd heard they were aggressive as well; she was my Myers mealmaker surprise. :D I hope she works out for you! I've never raised bantams, so have nothin' to offer about that.

Where are you located, @AmyJane725 ? I took a peak at your profile, and depending on where in Washington you are I may know where you could get your hands on a Hamburg cockerel.
That's nice of you, but I don't think it would be very nice to have the poor guy all alone for months and months until the babies arrive/grow up enough to live outside (September?). Plus I want everyone to grow up together. I'd be afraid to mix a bunch of really young birds with a much older rooster.

Glad to hear your RIR is amenable. I'm cautiously optimistic mine will be as well.

I'm excited for the bantams. I have no idea what to expect, but I'm hoping the cochin bantams are just as snuggly as full sized ones.
