After about a 4 week long dry spell my Old English hens have gone to serious laying. Three eggs each in four days! Maybe they'll go to setting before too long.
After some deliberation about change in season, mercury light disturbing them, possibly going to molt? I realized that the hens were not getting along all that well,
even though they were sharing a 9' x 16' pen with the rooster, and had more than enough laying boxes. So I separated them into their own 9' x 8' pens. And have been rotating the rooster every third day. Now they seem happy, relaxed & ready to get to work!
I cant wait to see what the little ones look like!
