Finally! A Pip! HATCHED! PICS ADDED!

In case Cyn can't answer, the CD's are strung on string or wire across the tops of her runs to keep airborn predators away. The light reflecting from the CD's along with the wire/string (I'm not sure what she uses) keeps them from being able to land in the run.

She can explain it best, I was just trying to help.

Right at the time you posted this, the first Blue Orp/Buff Brahma baby hatched. BIG baby, like those all are. The other two pips are larger, but no more pips yet. These are really making me wait! They are rocking still, so they're just taking their sweet time. Maybe they realize how cold and snowy it is out here.

Oh, to string the CD's, I use neon mason's line; it's just very strong string that comes in very bright colors. Works great.

There is nothing more exciting than waiting on the hatch. We will be looking forward to the pics. Stay warm

Since it will probably be awhile before I have another baby out, here is the Blue Orp/Buff Brahma baby just as it pushed out of the egg. It's got quite a set of lungs on it!

Just noticed that it has feathers down the sides of its legs like its mom! Not sure if it's blue or black yet since it isn't dry enough but I'll let you know. Now if the rest of the babies will just make an effort to come out and play.....
