Finally! A Pip! HATCHED! PICS ADDED!

That's a BIG baby! It always amazes me how they manage to fit in the egg!! I went to bed early last night and have been gone all day so I was excited to see you've got hatching going on.

Kate, there are several breeds that have feathered legs. My Buff Brahma is the mother of this baby. All Brahmas, Cochins, Silkies, Salmon Faverolles, some Marans and others have feathered legs. I honestly don't care that much for feathered legs, although on a chick, it's adorable. My Buff and Lt. Brahma girls don't have very good feathering down the legs-typical hatchery stock, they are. Bad breed examples that way, but I like sparse leg feathering better myself.

Wow, that little chick has huge feet!!!! Very cute!

A second Blue Orpington has pipped, also Skye's egg. Wish Velvet's three would pip-the pure Blue Orps are the most important ones in this hatch. My hatches usually go a little faster than this, but Day 21 only started at about 12:30 pm. today, so they're not late at all. Still waiting on the others to make a definite move toward freedom.

Very cute picture. Looks like he just plopped out. His is a big one. I am hoping your pures hatch for you.

I think the definition of "late" depends how frantically we have been waiting.

You could just be right about that one, LOL. Julie, he/she did just plop out. This cross are a bunch of little tanks, even the girls. AND they all have pea combs like their mom so even if it didn't have feathered legs (about 50% do), I could tell the crosses from the pures just by the comb. I only have two of these in the bator so if they're girls, they'll join my laying flock.
