he still has 17, but wanted to start small, they are 1 1/2 years old, raised em since chicks. He' a ways out of Kansas City so has a rooster. The others are Rhode Island Reds and something else. he said he gets an egg every other day about with the Orps, and to start with thats plenty for me! Thanks for the warm welcome

Good stuff! Sounds like it'll work out just fine.

One other thing, it might be a good idea to do a preventative mite and worming treatment before they start laying. Most mite and worming treatments suggest a 2 week withholding period for eggs. Most chickens won't lay in a new environment for 2-3 weeks. Treating them now will mean no wasted eggs :)
 
Just finished my coop and runner today, and found a guy who is moving and needed to rehome 2, and just my luck I already have em home! I know ones a buff Orpington, the other is reddish but he said it was too, either way they are great so far eating bugs and scratching dirt
