Finally caught him!!

I think it is a "stealth" fox, the government must be testing new stuff on animals again. When you trap it, you can get on the cover of National Enquirer maybe.

You are neighbor too me I am in Virginia.Grey fox have been spotted here as well. But hard to tell really from the dark.Possibly a coyote. They are Both snaeky And fast!At any rate good luck trapping him.Fox are hard to trap unless you have been doing it a while.Coyote aren't quite as bad to trap if you get one of the Large Live trap's.Unless you are in a pet free suburban area leg trap's shouldn't be used. Please let Us know if ya get the rascal!

We do have both around here. I know for sure we have grey fox's because once I was over at my neighbors in the morning to feed my horse when I was stabling her over there for the summer to give my pasture a break and darn it if I didnt have a fox no more than as stones throw away from me!! It just stood there and looked at me and then walked off like I was nothing more than a fly. Of course, since it didnt run when I threw a rock at it, I thought.............rabies!!! And I had no where to run as I was in the middle of the yard!! Thank goodness it didnt seem to want to bother with me. I also know we have coyotes as I have seen them crossing the road and they are much bigger than the animal in the photo. I have also heard them howling at night. Cant mistake that call!! Your right about trying to catch that fox. They are very smart and sneaky. I have a trap but I think it maybe too small for it. I may have to spring for one of those larger traps with the bait holder in it. Maybe then, I may have my first fox neck wrap.

It's funny you said fisher because that was my first thought before I read the thread. To me it looked too low and too one-tone to be a fox (even a grey one). If it's a fisher, it is definitely going to be very difficult to catch. They are very smart. Not saying that fox aren't but.....

Never have seen a fisher, didnt even know we may have one in the area. No, havent caught him yet although I have traps out. Something keeps getting the bait and not springing the trap. I'll keep trying.
