Finally Caught Predator last night

Im with the others... he may be your fella but there may be something else having chicken snacks...

I once had a cat that went from a sweet purring drool bag (yes she drooled) to a new mother and growled at everyone... she never did stop and about two years later just left! She sure was scary when she got going too!

Keep the trap active for sure.

My 6 ft tall electrified fence has 4 courses of wire at roughly 12" intervals, spaced 2" out from fence . I bonded the unit's ground lead to the fence itself as well as to a 6 ft copper ground rod. That way they get a full jolt thru the first 4 ft of climbing. It does not become a weaker shock once they are no longer touching the ground. It is 4 KV all the way to the last/top wire. Forget digging, mine is set in cement. Inside the pen, the coop is closed except for ventilation all night.

UPDATE - the cat went with animal control. They said it was wild and smelled bad. Good thing I went to work and didn't have to smell it. The traps stay out almost all the time. I know I still have a skunk as I spent Saturday right after midnight looking for the owner of the smell in the backyard. We made a new door for the chicken coop that closes off all means of entry. The calls are in dog kennels with the floor all concrete. The only way in is over or through the chain links...which I did witness a skunk go through last summer. I let him figure out he could go through the links, more for my curiosity to see if he could, then put him down.

I don't think the cat ate your ducks...cats growl and act feral when they are cornered/trapped and afraid.

Keep the trap set. Me thinks you have another predator lurking, probably racoon.
