Finally caught the stray Min Pin - new pics

She is the best. As far as "too big" she only weighed 9 pounds when we found her. She weighs a lot more now but isn't any bigger. She's not nearly as big as my MIL's or Daughter's purebred minpins - but their dogs are also really fat. My MIL's minpin can barely walk up or down stairs and if it goes out for a walk it's huffing and puffing after just a few minutes but of course her dog is older.

Prissy just flys up and down the stairs and runs for balls for hours without getting tired. She will run back with the ball and bark if you don't throw it again fast enough for her. You should see her and Rex playing fetch. She outruns Rex and then barks if he gets the ball first. It has really been good for Rex to have Scarlett and Prissy running after "his" balls because he used to be really aggressive about those darn balls, still is to an extent but he has learned to share and let them play.

So while she's not as big as most people I know's Minpins, most of their dogs seem to have a weight problem. Is that specific to the breed or does everyone just overfeed them and not exercise them? Prissy doesn't stop running and playing all day long. If she and Scarlett aren't chasing each other all over the farm, she's begging to play ball, or she just does a few run-bys on the chickens - constant energy in motion.

Miniature Pinschers have a tendency to over eat. They will just keep eating. That is why it is important to keep their diet regulated. Also, they love to run around, but dont let them off the leash, as they have a tendency to chase after anything. Maybe she is a purebred.

Wow, I had never heard of that breed. It does look like her. She doesn't have the smooshed face a lot of MinPins I've seen have. I'll have to look it up.

Thanks for the compliments on the home also. I just spent the last couple of days finally hanging pictures and decorating. Told DH guess it's time to start acting like I really live here - makes a year this month and I've yet to put a nail hole in a wall. As I was hanging pics last night I told DH I just realized I own this home and will live here the rest of my life so if I want to put a nail hole and start hanging pictures it's about time.

She is a very lucky girl. I just got a standard Doberman - we named him Diesel (my Ds did) He is really stolen a pioece of my heart. He follows me whereever I go - loves to take long walks in the woods with me and never lets me out of his sight. he loves to run around but always makes sure he can see me. I adore him - he sleeps on a big pillow beside my bed and every morning I wake up to 2 big paws and a sad little puting face up on the side of my bed to let me know he needs to go potty. He is doing really good for 5 months old. He already weighs about 60lbs. The lady we got him from had so many litters of puppies she didnt know how many pups she had who was the father of the litters or how many males and females she had. she was selling them but because the economy is so slow right now she was going to take them to the shelter. She didnt want to feed them! We got one of the pups and paid the lady for the trouble she said she had - and he is beautiful - he is full a blood male and very handsome and has definatley stole my heart!

I too have a Manchester Terrier. Mine is 10yrs old & although has a nearly all gray white face from age, she still has the energy of a puppy. & 'springs' up on her hind feet all the time.

Their energy is endless.

But my female weighs about 6 1/2 pounds. I believe Min Pins weigh approx. 14 lbs....(atleast the purebred one a family member of mine used to have did). But if she's a bit larger than a Manchester Terrier & smaller than a typical Min Pin maybe she's a mix of both? I know that Manchester Terrier's don't 'usually' have their tails docked, our female's tail is a natural full tail. & Min Pins are 'usually' docked. But it could just be the preference of the breeder too that Prissy's tail isn't docked. Just a thought.

At any rate, Congrats on your New Addition!

Manchester terriers come in two sizes - toy and standard. The standards are supposed to be between 12 and 22 pounds, while the toys are under 12.
