Great job! They are tough baztards to catch.

For real it was a great time, me and the hunk sat under the stars and watched for movement in the pond. Then when we started catching them it was a great rush of adrenaline! We laughed our butts off at the big old basturds. For real recommend this as a date night!

I used to do about the same when i was a kid helping a friend out with their pond. I used to catch a few blue gill and cut them into chunks and cast them out with big bobbers to catch the snappers out of the pond. I would string several hooks together to better hook them when they started eating the meat chunks.

Growing up my grandparents had a house with a huge pind and huge snappers to go with it. They used a box trap to thin them out. Bait it and wait. I can't find the exact one they used but this is the closest I found-

A couple of years ago we had a watch alert put out due to an invasion of these coming over from Florida, I've never seen one myself but there were reports of kiddies getting badly injured and maimed through being bitten and last year a guy lost his hand - recently there have been reports of people having had them as pets (also terrapins) and dumping them in lakes across the UK which if they breed will endanger our natural wild life - I don't think our country nor the people in it are equipped to take on such as these - scary thought!
