Rescued Eos from a farm. After we got her first eggs I noticed she was fertile. Put over 9 eggs in the incubator and several developed but all were quitters, all at different points. Found out later that's why the farm was gonna sell/cull her, none of her eggs ever hatched. After my son accidently dropped an egg and it showed still fertile, almost 4 weeks after we got her, I gave it one last shot and put 3 more eggs I had collected in. Only one developed, looked great through the whole process. Pipped around 6 PM yesterday, woke up to this little one! Any reccomendation on names? Assuming it's full BCM but not 100% sure.

Not a bcm at all lacking feathered legs just a mutt or a black sex link
American Standard BCM doesn't require feathered legs, though it's generally preferred. Farm stock, only carries BCMs. BCM down pattern on chick and chick has fathered feet.

If it didnt have feathered legs its not stock id buy

Again, a rescue, not a purchase. I don't breed to sell. My girls are pets that give me eggs. Also easier to breed feathered gene back into the stock than it is good egg color.

It's remarkable that you got this hatch, but, honestly, I'd mark that chick as "Pet Only, Never Breed" with that history of problems from the mother.

Over the long term, breeding issues into the future is a losing proposition. :(
Oh I agree. I don't keep Roosters so she has no shot at breeding, just a pet, like the rest. 😁

The vertical stripe on the eye is unique. I’d call him Snake Eyes. He sure is cute. Be sure to post an update with what name you decide on.

Marans have a special place in my heart. They are a hard breed, to breed to standard, but I just can’t quit them. 🤣

You could also double down on the Greek mythology names. That’s a deep pool to draw from. Too many to list here.

Nice, thank you - maybe combine both - Asclepius was associated with snakes, or Zephyrus since he was a son of Eos lol. Fully fluffed pics:
