Hi everyone!

I've lurked these forums a few times before (doing research before getting chooks) but now we've got some! Yay! Picked up Henrietta and Charlemagne the Isa browns at an estate sale! Had them for about 2 weeks now. Vet checked them over, all healthy. Reliable layers too! They get on well with our doggy, and our toddler

Supervised of course!
I'll probs have a ton of questions in the future, so bear with me please

Welcome!

Ask as many questions as you want!

I recommend a visit to the Learning Centre; lots of good tips there: https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

You might want to also pop in and say hello on your local thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.

You are very lucky that they get along with your dog and vice versa but yep, still a good idea to keep a close eye on proceedings for a while.

At the risk of sounding like an enabler

you might want to consider getting at least one more chicken. Sadly, we lose chickens along the way and if you lose one, your remaining hen will be very lonely. I have been there, done that and got the T-shirt! Had to race out and find my lone chicken a friend, waive quarantine etc. Now, I have 5 and make sure I never drop below 3.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends

Nice to hear everyone is getting along well and you're enjoying the chickens. I would also advise getting at least 1 or 2 more birds. Before you add any new chickens to the 2 you have now, read up on isolation and integration (you'll find lots about adding to the flock using the Search function).

Make yourself at home here and always feel free to ask questions!
