Finally got my Purina Feed...

No feed mills right around me, but there are some within 90 minutes, give or take. If it came to that I'd buy through one of them, but I'd rather not. I only need 50 or so pounds of feed a month so it doesn't pay to do a huge order -- no way to use it before it would go bad.

Look Around And See If There Are Any Other Folks Nearby Willing To Do A Co-op Sort Of Thing With You Like Rain Wolf Suggests...thats What Pascopal Does, He Piggy Back's His Order In On Top Of Mine.

You might be surprised how many people would be interested in ordering direct from the mill. The food tends to be fresher and in my case even eco-friendly and healthier since my mill farms all the grains from local farms that don't use chemicals while growing. (organic growing but some field spray before planting if its needed so not cert organic but common sense management)

Due to the fact that the mill food is fresh, if kept in dry place then it really last a long time. I get about 2-3 months of food at a time (about 1000lbs) but that includes my chicken feed and goat feed.

I'd check with the local mill and see if they have a delivery already out in your area. They might let you piggyback delivery of a small amount.

When I buy feed I buy a 100 pounds for my friend, and I get 150 pounds for me. He used to pick mine up for me, so now it's my turn since the mill shut down.

The manager of our local Tractor Supply is exceptional at finding what the customer is looking for. NutriSource feeds are very good feeds and they specialize in exotic feeds. He showed me in the feed book that Ostrich, Llama/Alpaca Mini Pig and Gamebird feed is available to be ordered. From my experience the stores tell customers they can't get them bc they don't want to take the extra time to special order it for the customer. Don't let them fool you, they can get most anything someone wants. They also carry the Purina Flock Blocks. I also put them in all my bird pens. Helps to encourage pecking and keeps the beaks nice and trimmed. The blocks have grit and oyster shell in it already also. I really don't have anything bad to say about my local store.

I get cuttlebone for mine. Look for 5 pound batches on Amazon & eBay...

I can only find Nutrena brand gamebird and mix with parakeet seed. TSC only has Mana Pro in tiny expensive bags...odd. I hear that Purina has less powder waste. I hate that stuff! I will have to look around for other feed stores within decent distance...unless my favourite small feed store here would order Purina for me. I'd probably buy all the bags, lol. Wouldn't hurt to ask maybe. Hmm...

Press your feed store to get you some of the Purina GBS. Nothing wrong with Nutrena, but those little expensive bags of "WHAT EVER" game bird feed is just stupidity!
Purina is trying to go that way, but we must resist!

If anyone is interested I can get the SKU# to give to there Tractor Supply store to order the NutriSource Gamebird Maintenance feed. I use to work for Tractor Supply so I KNOW they can order it for anyone who wants it. They just need a minimum order of 2 - 4 bags. Like I said before, it's $19.99 for a 50pound bag but it's very good feed and my pheasant and Quail love it. The only thing with the quail is you have to feed it to mature birds bc of the size of the pellets and it has whole corn, millet, edible peas, oats, and milo in it also. I mix some black oil sunflower seeds with it to make it go further.

I am not a fan of NutriSource nor Purina...Purina especially because of the high salt contents (methionine). Manna Pro comes in 50 bags too and that's what I get for the birds.
