Thanks Matilda, I'm already worried about foxes! Just kidding. I got my first egg from them today

I missed that...
Sally, here's the coop. We're going to modify it next week. It's tiny! DH is going to build a nice big extension that we're going to attach to that so my poor girls can run around a bit. Shame, it's raining today and they look bored.

Sumi, does that mean you moved to Ireland?

And I'm not sure where SA is you moved from. South Africa, South America, South Alabama?

As far as naming them, what are your interests or hobbies? As far as inspiration you can look to the muses (Calliope, Clio, Erato, Euterpe, Melpomene, Polyhymnia, Terpsichore, Thalia, and Urania) , constellations, mythology, musical notes, named hurricanes. Maybe names of friends you left behind? Look up women that are leaders of countries and name them after them. The possibilities for names are endless.

Calliope - Callie
Clio - Clio
Euterpe - Twerp
Melpomene - Mel
Polyhymnia - Polly
Terpsichore - Cora
Thalia - Tally
Urania - Ranie

Yes, we moved here form South Africa.
I like your name suggestions. DH thinks we should look for Celtic names, as they're Irish chickens. But I might have a problem pronouncing their names then

Polly's a good name though... and Cora... The silver leghorn looks like a Cora. O.K. one down, 5 to go.

Pine Marten. Cute, aren't they?

Oh My HECK!

and I call myself an animal person, I've never seen or heard about one of those. Yes, it looks cute, but judging by the build, and looking like some sort of cartoon fox, I am guessing that they aren't exactly a pullets best friend??

thanks for the link!

I've heard of them, but I thought it was a type of bird

Thanks for the heads-up... They are kinda cute, but if I catch one near my chickens I may not think so any more!

Sumi. Glad you are "settling in."

Yes, I'm a chicken owner again. It felt weird posting here when I didn't have chickens anymore! I kept saying "my chickens does this or that" then I remembered...
