Congrats Donna!

Our hatch was done yesterday, 27 chickies racing around out of 30 eggs. The last 3 eggs...2 did not develop past day 8 I'm guessing, they were all yolk, and the last one was a developed chick with the yolk sc unabsorbed, I'm thinking it died around day 18. Anyhow, I'm very pleased with our 90 percent hatch rate.
We're going to take a break for a bit from hatching, need to get another coop or two up before we have another round! Next time I want to try some different breeds.

Looks like that or clear marbles- you put them in the water for newly hatched chicks to help keep them from drowning themselves if they fall in the water.

Yep...that's what they are. Someone said that the chicks will peck at the shiny marble and learn to drink quickly. Sure enough...I saw several of them peck at the marble, then realize there was water in there and have a long drink!

Nice hatch rate there mamaboyd and good luck growing those babies, I have mine in a tote and I noticed this morning they are acting crowded. So I guess I will have to remodel another tobacco baler to make another brooder.
