Finally Have a White Male Peacock!!

What size is your barn? Are all the peafowl loose together for the winter? If so when do you start separating again for breeding? Do you have the "this years hatch youngsters" in there too or are they separated from the adults? Are the this years babaies allowed out in the winter? I was told they had to stay totally inside. Do you keep lights on for them to give them a certain number of daylight hours?
So many questions, so many things I don't now yet:D

yes all adult birds are loose in the large flight pen. Separate them by Feb. or mid March at the least. they start laying in May. Note the pens on the right side each with small building, young bird pens. Yes they can come out in the weathers, they are placed in these pens at 3 months old.

No light for increased daylight, think that would mess up the peacocks molt. The flight pen is 14 ft hight and if i remember right. barn is 40ft by 50ft, 14 ft high side walls.

What amazing birds!

OK, so the young birds stay in the little red buildings. What do you do for water, as I would imagine it is below freezing for you too most of the winter?
Thanks for letting me see how other cold weather people are doing this.

Yes the little red building are each inside a pen, they can come out when they want.

Just use water heater ,if temps get below freezing to long/

One point I want everyone to note, lot and lot of room for mixing all the peacocks.
