Some of you from the other board will remeber that last year I was trying to buy a mare but she did not clear her pre-purchase exam. She has been at the stable I ride at (she belongs to my instructors mother) and I have been working with her for over year now but my parents never consented to buying her.

A little history, her name is Lady and she is an ex-race horse 15.3 thoroughbred and was being sold for $3,500. A bit on the high-strung side but has improved greatly in the past year. When she went in for the pre-purchase exam, but when lunged on the black-top she came up lame even though she showed no lame-ness when ridden. our first thoughts were navicular and we decided not to buy her.

I have been working with her for over a year now and she has shown no signs of lameness but my instructor's mother has been becoming desperate to sell her because she no longer could afford to own horses that she never rode (she bought them on a foolish whim).

My instuctor dropped her price to $1000 and with me getting another job I am finally able to afford her. my only problem was my parents whom just a few weeks ago were resolutly aginist a horse.

Finally this morning my parents consented!

My sweet Lady will be finally mine. For those of you who have horses you know what a special bond can grow between a horse and it's owner and the thought of her leaving me to go to someone elses home just would have broken my heart. I can not even express in words how excited and happy I am.

Sadly though I am going to have to cut my flock in half in the spring because I am paying for everything for Lady, board, farrier, ect. 30+ chickens go through a lot of feed a week and I just won't be able to afford it. So a bunch of my newer girls will be getting knew homes and my hatching will have to lessen, but I am so excited about Lady it won't matter.

Here is my sweet girl.

This was taken last fall, she is a bit bleached out she is much dar than this normally and she also has filled out a bit more too.

Also please excuse any spelling/grammer mistakes I am just too excited.

Thanks guys, I love her so so much. She is a very silly girl, she loves carrots and sometimes will eat an apple but other days just turns her nose up at 'em. When she first arrived her she was a crazy mare, she liked to run and bolt and had never seen ground poles in her life. It took us months to get her to go over the poles with out freaking. I now have her started over fenses and is showing great apptitude for it and is getting better everytime I work with her.

I just feel soo happy, this is seriously the best Christmas EVER!
