After lurking and learning before getting my 1st chicks a couple of years ago I finally joined up.

We have enjoyed keeping chickens (and their eggs) so much that I hope to have chickens forever. They're great!!

We currently have 2 Barred Rocks, 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Buff Orpingtons, and 1 lovely Delaware.

it was pretty much the same story here in the UK, I had been thinking about getting a pair of chickens (as pets) for ages/years then I finally jumped in with both feet and bought a Coop.. then Four Chickens.. then I looked at the poor little babes standing next to one another in the run and thought they looked a bit cramped... so i bought a Bigger Coop... more room.. More Chickens.. We now have Eight.

Whats more this keeping chicken is addictive, we sold the very new coop to friends and they now are getting chicken too.

Addictive isn't a word I would use.. compulsion is a word I use.

Anyhow we currently have 2 Goldlines(Rhode I Reds) 1 white Leghorn 1 Light Sussex 1 Bluebell 1 Skyline 1 Specklady 1 Black Rock

Glad to have you here!
Chickens are great. We keep ours for the eggs too. Our hens are old now, but from time to time they still squeeze out an egg. Such a big difference from the store bought ones. :lol:
