Howdy!
Ive kept quite a variety of pet chickens for 15+ years now, never got into any showing or breeding to type but I have hatched out a lot of fun mutts through the years. I've been on this site a fair number of times in the past searching for answers to chicken health emergencies but never actually made an account. After several years of having my focus elsewhere (though I've never been without some chickens..) I'm getting back into it and pursuing a breeding project I've wanted to get into since the early years. Currently I have 29 bantams (22 of which are new babies i got this spring, haha) of various breeds. They are all from hatcheries (or hatched at my home, in the case of 3 of the older ones) but I will soon be pursuing purchasing some better quality birds. My favorite chickens are the ones that look not too far removed from their wild counterparts. Of the breeds I've kept, old english game bantams are probably the ones I've been the most enchanted with - all except for how bad the boys fight. Now I have some new (hatchery bred) rosecombs and I'm falling in love with them.
I'm in the pretty part of central Indiana. I decided to finally make an account on here in case it might help me connect with more somewhat local chicken people in the future.
