Finally! My coop is just about done!

Sweet!! Love to deep eaved, low slope roof!

How about some more pics of the coop portion, inside and out?

What is your climate there?

I live in the SF Bay Area, so we have Spring-like weather and Fall-like weather pretty much all year. During the winter the temps do reach freezing, every once in a while, but We will cover the coop if needed at those times. So we have a pretty moderate climate.

The inside of the coop is not finished yet. We ran out of time, but desperately needed to get the chickens out of the garage. The inside will have 3 roosts and the nesting boxes will be added closer to when they are ready to lay. I will definitely update with pictures as we progress.

One issue we ran into with the sloping eaves is that the doors (which there are two that swing out from the middle) hit the eaves. This could have been mitigated fairly easily, but my husband was essentially throwing things together by that point! lol. I also have doors to the back of the bottom of the run.

We will be roofing it and painting or putting a varnish on it, as well. I wanted to put siding, but we decided we wanted to stop spending money on it where we could!

Oh DOH!! aw geez......well, you can cut down the door.
Working on the coop while the chooks are in there can get them used to you, but you have to move slow at first and talk in a soft voice.

The cute thing is that they get very excited when I go out to visit them. The only trouble I have is at night getting them to go into the coop. They would rather bunch together in the corner of the run. The particular corner is under the coop and the doors are screwed shut until we can fix them all up. I have just been leaving them out to do what they will and they have been fine, lol. My husband had to put 2x4s between the joists while they were in there and they were much undaunted and it was loud, I was very surprised. I think they are just a docile bunch.
