My beautiful Gwendolyn finally produced the first egg from our newly conceived backyard flock. It was a small but perfectly formed pale green egg. Our two RIR hens can't be far behind, so fresh eggs everyday are in our immediate future!!

Mine was about 3 weeks early though....

I got her when she was 20 weeks along with the two RIR. I was told that they came in the same hatchery delivery so they're the same age. I've been waiting all summer for this! She's now about 28 weeks. I just found another egg that is about 50% bigger than yesterday's. The first one she laid in the grass, the second she laid on the floor of the coop. She sits in the nest box every day so maybe eventually she'll decide to put the eggs there!

Though would you please tell her to get her fluffy butt back home? I knew she was laying somewhere, but didn't know where.

PS
She was laying somewhere, and I found the nest today. 15 eggs were in it, but only two were the mint green. I suspect those were her eggs, but not sure.
