Finally!!! My Silkies :)

Ok, finally decided to download my pictures off my camera and of course I had more chickie pics on there, so I figured I'd share a few again...

We had a surprisingly very warm day last week, so I let the babies out for a bit. Their first time outside (and not really quite sure what to do with themselves):

It got a bit colder later on in the week, so the closest to outside they got was in our mud room:

^^^ They finally learned to trust me and take food from me. I may not be their "mom" like I was to my first set of chicks, but I am definitely their "YAY! Super-awesome treat lady!"

And now for the more recent.... They are getting U-G-L-Y!!!! I have no idea what to classify them as - birds? rabbits? hairless rat? LOL! They're 'preteen' stage definitely is not a good look on them - talk about shabby:

And just for the sake of saying this - ALL of them are coming in white. I really thought I might have some different color birds... (well 2 white, a buff, and maybe a really light self-blue), but no... Anything they can do to make things harder on me

I guess I'll just have to tell them apart by looking at their feet, lol.

I know I have one bearded for sure, the other three, I'm not so sure about - they seemed to have gotten a lot less "puffy-faced" these past few weeks (unless the other one is just overly puffy - ?).

It's hard to tell for sure right now, but I've also noticed that 2 seem to have pea combs and 2 have some sort of raised comb...

I know my chicks are FAR from what's ideal/standard for the silkie breed, but I still love them to death. They are so much fun to have around!

Yeah.... I loved the pics.
My daughter has been wanting some silkies and we finally found someone close enough to drive and go get them.... so look-out Nashville... here we come

We are going Saturday to pick some up.
I am scared they are going to turn into house chickens though.... she is already spoiling the little chicks we got last week.

Keep the pics coming!!!

Thank you! I definitely will

Haha, I hear what you say about the house chickens... I normally don't keep birds in my house, but these guys have taken over my bathroom as a brooder, for the time being, until my coop is revised/additions added. As much as I love them, I really cannot wait to have that room back, lol!

Enjoy your chicks and post pics of yours!

These pics are a bit old from 2 weeks ago... Head shots!

They seem to have different types of combs - 2 have a 'raised' one and 2 have a 'flat/smooth' comb - Does this indicate anything (other than 'not up to breed standard')?

The Little Fluffies went outside yesterday and were introduced to my adult hens (under close supervision). All went really well and they really enjoyed their time on the dirt!

^^^ The whole group!

Well since I have had them for over 5 weeks now and the weather is FINALLY warmer, it was time for them to move into the "big chick" brooder in the garage. They weren't so happy about being kicked out of the mud room but they settled in well.

^^^ They seem much more excited to see me now that they have moved in there. I guess they miss all the attention I gave them after all
