Finally nearly finished my coop PICs Added finished pictures.

That's a great design and beautifully built. The finishing touches are perfect. Best of success with your enterprise. Hope you get business from BYC!!

I love the look of this. Hope you come up with a blueprint. I am sure you could sell a ton of them.

Have you considered having the back door open to the side instead of opening down to keep the shavings and such out of the crack?

Maybe you have and that wall would be too heavy for the hinges? If so what about more and bigger hinges for that side? I guess just not making that wall as thick and as insulated as the other sides is not an option with the cold weather you get where you live.

Very nice coop design you got. I like the windows also with the sliding shutters. I may have to try something like that for my windows.

Actually, the side isn't strong enough to take that weight and torque from the door opening sideways. You would have to beef up the side and brace it and that would be ugly. Besides, you have to open the top to get the back open so you don't have to use any latches or anything.

Congratulations on selling the coops! You are one busy gal, especially just before Christmas.

Would you please explain how you've done the pit below the roost in your coop? Can the pit be lifted up and out to clean?

The coop looks really nice; I can tell you've put a lot of thought into it. I hope you're able to sell several more next year, also.

It's a 4' x 4' coop. Will hold 4 heavy breeds 5 regular, and 8 bantams.

The dropping pit is just 2'x4's with welded wire on top, they just lift right out for cleaning and stirring etc.

I am so glad you updated the info. on this post! I have wondered several times how you did posting that great looking coop on Craigslist! Looks like you have some Christmas money if you sold 2 of them!! Congratulations, they are really nice!! Darlene

Well, the other lady came back and wants hers early next week. The guy wants his on the 28th. It's like maybe 30 deg here during the day. I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to be able to paint the new one I make. DH wants me to built 2 at a time this time, It really is a lot easier to do 2 at one time, but still takes a lot time. And SO COLD! However, I will be able to pay off all that we spent on chickens this year. Pay for both of our coops, and the girls and all the extra goodies. So, I should be able to justify another breeder coop don't you think?
