Hi Friends!
I have been reading posts on BYC for two years and finally am getting up the guts to introduce myself. My name is Sarah and I live in the mountains of North Carolina. I have always wanted a flock of chickens, and finally had the chance two years ago when I bought my first home. I spent a couple of months researching coops, and then building my chicken palace.

I live with eight hens, all of whom I adore. I have three Rhode Island Reds: Agatha Clucksly, Emma Goldhen, and Hazel Cluckens. I have two Black Astralorps: Bella and Rosa, two Auracana’s: Izzy Mae, and Ursula leHen, and one Barred Rock: Scout.

All of us are supervised by one small black cat who rules the roost around here.

I am a full time Potter, specializing in functional dinnerware, so I am home most of the time throwing pottery on the wheel. Hence, I
spend a lot of time near my flock.

I have questions about the current health situation in my flock, and have learned so much since beginning this adventure that I finally decided to formally join!

Thanks yall!
Sarah

Welcome to BYC, Sarah! Just post any questions that you may have on the forum and I'm sure you'll get lots of answers. You have some hardy, good laying chickens. Black Australorps are my favorite standard breed as they are very hardy, calm and gentle, and excellent layers of large, brown eggs. Good luck with your flock.

Good luck with your poultry raising adventures, and I hope you find everything you need to know. Don't forget to take a look at BYC's very useful learning center (If you haven't already)! The learning center as well as the forum should answer your questions! There is always something new to learn! Glad to have you here! See you around with the flock.

Hi and :welcome

I hope you find all the info you need here. Enjoy the site. :D

Very nice chicken palace. You give a lot of thought to things you do, even naming the girls. You'll do just fine here. If there are health concerns about your flock please let us know or post in detail at "emergencies, diseases, injuries, cures," thread
