I had to quick snatch the one that hatched yesterday out because the third one to hatch has a bit of a rough navel and he was picking at it. WHY do chickens have to be such cannibals!! He's in the brooder box with a mirror to keep him company until tomorrow. Number four is almost out now.

Those eggs are amazing! Im lookin for one dark layer to keep and that is the color I want. Where did you purchase your birds that lay those eggs?

I got them about 5 years ago from a breeder who is no longer alive.

I wish he was, I'd love to get some more from him.

Harry Shaw was his name. The chick isn't from my Marans tho....I haven't posted any pix of them yet. The chick in the pix is from Jody's Aruacana eggs.
