Hi guys!

Time is nearly here for me to finally start my flock!! Its been five years since I last had chickens. Moving from the Pacific northwest (up in and around mt. Vernon area) to beautiful Bismarck North Dakota. Finally got a chunk of land 5 acres with loads of apple trees, plums, Choke cherries, cherries, pears, grapes, and wild asparagus! So I finally have been able to start building my dream coop (bullet proof) and I just sort wanted to share my enthusiasm with fellow feather tenders 🤣 it's not a high coop but was like it was meant to be. We built were an old rusted tin garden shed was so it has a concrete foundation (yay me for that sort of predator proofing) it's a 8'×6 and the tallest point is 8ft high and the lowest being 6ft. I know you cam build cops on a budget but that wasnt my intentions, I have been saving all these years to build good, strong, and hardy particularly weather proof with these crazy hail storms we can get in the Dakotas. I opted for a beautiful wood looking concrete siding and trim. It was pricey but I knew that was to be expected! (It was a mess buying it and needing the right amenities that go with it that's a diffrent story all together) I and I got "special ordered" copper tin for the roofing. It's not completely done yet as we still have a few things to build i.e gates and egg collecting door. We decided to attach the run to the already 8ft high fence for the garden to so it has a streamline appearance. Of course the run has sturdy wire caging all around and on the top and I wanted to make it extra big and spacious for those days work has me going and coming and don't want the chickens out but themselves unless I'm home. Perks of working in a landscaping company is were gonna make pretty around it. And plan to plant all sorts of goodies in and around the run. Such as sunflowers, marigolds, mint and so on and so forth. We will be adding a small gate from the coop that goes into the garden so in the fall/ early spring the run will increase 100 fold to let them have at it and peck and scratch to their hearts content. Also a few recommendations would be lovley. Such as for the feeding and watering systems (plas, ideas, tips) and also which hatcheries would you fellow friends would recommend!? I'm starting with seven birds a Barnevelder roo, three barnevelder hens, two speckled Sussex, and one black Austrolorp. Anyways I wanted to share and get tips, pointers, and recommendations about extra protection to further the safety of the run. And what i can do with the run for them when they do occasionally have to stay in the run! Mayne some sort of garden boxes with chicken wire over the top so they can snack on peas, barley, and clover exc. Here are some pictures! I'd love some feed back!

Very pretty. With the coop, do you have the soffits opened up for ventilation?

For the run, if you haven't already planned on it, add hardware cloth up the bottom few feet of the fence and apron out a couple feet as well, to prevent dig-ins and raccoons from just reaching in and tearing birds out. As far as run "entertainment," add clutter: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/a-cluttered-run.1323792/
