Finally using the nest boxes!

Just when you think you couldn't love your chickens more...

we opened up the nest boxes (by taking out one of the dividers that had split it into thirds. It now has one larger section and a smaller section, and the girls all have their preferences). The girls are now loyally laying in them!!

Chooks do things that only chooks know why. Mine have always used their nests. I set them at 24" ht and the roosts at 48" ht on opposite wall. Nests only were built after chooks were in coop for a month. I have way too many at 12 on that level and two on floor in case one does not get the message and wants to lay at floor level. With 23 chooks, I find that I will need only 6 at most.
