So in deciding where to put my coop in my yard, two of the locations Im thinking of is right next to my raised beds. Is there a problems with this? Im thinking safety/sanitation wise, having the coop and run a few feet from veggies gardens? Obviously if my beds are not protected they will help themselves to an seedlings, veggies etc

These locations receive a lot of sun in the summer with minimal shade. But I figured I could grow some nasturtiums/cucumbers over the run for some shade or provide some shade cloth

Any help is appreciated!

I would put a coop next to the raised beds. You can build a compost bin near them too for coop clean outs.
Shade will be a necessity in the summer. I'd purchase the shade cloth to have if needed but you can try to grow something that will go over the run. Bare in mind that the chickens will pick at any vine growth that tries to wrap around the hardware cloth of the run. Have you considered putting a solid roof over your run? It is not only great for shade but also predator protection and it keeps the run much drier.
Where are you located in the world? You can update your profile with that information so it displays with every post you make. If you are in an area with snowy winters, a solid roof offers the additional benefit of not having to shovel out your run.
Make sure from the start that the entire coop/run and a bit of space outside it's foot print are on high ground and that everything will drain. There is nothing worse than a muddy run.

LOL Im aware they will go to town on it. Was thinking of placing a cattle panel over it for growth. Covered run in a must in Massachusetts. While I get more rain than snow as I'm close to the ocean, we definitely get snow.

Another location Im thinking is closer to our woods. Super shady year round, but in the run will be able to catch some sun...think I just answered my own question LOL

Thanks for your help!

A shady location is preferable to sun in most locations. That said, I used to grow veggies in my chicken run, and still do trellis peas on my run fence, and while I understand some people wouldn't do that because of the risk of contaminants in their food supply, I've never had issues eating the produce from those garden patches.

I think they will prefer the super shady area, chickens usually prefer it where it is cool rather than to sunny and hot.
