Finding antibiotics for my flock

I have not come across anything except medicated starter feed. Its important to have some medication to treat as some veterinarians will either decline treating chickens or if they do as in my case they charged me from here to the moon. Why don't you start a new thread and post your question. everyone will see it and you might learn something before tomorrow.

Do these also come in medicated feeds? We live in Texas where there is much less California nanny state nonsense. We can buy most everything. I'm off to the feed store tomorrow to see what we can stock ourselves for our little flock of 16 birds.
In most states, feeds containing antibiotics require a vfd (veterinary feed directive), and the antibiotics that you put in feed or water now require a prescription. Some injectable antibiotics, like penicillin and oxytetracyline, can still be purchased without a prescription.

In Califfornia, a prescription is required for all antibiotics.

They way many people deal with this is to buy fish antibiotics or "pigeon/gamebird" antibiotics.

you can purchase bio-mycin 200 injectable and penicillin but from my own experience here in maryland. A vet as in most places would have to prescribe Tylan.
I do have a new question for Casportpony.. What would you suggest as dosage for BENE-BAC PLUS on a per gallon usage? The label suggests providing this by weight of bird but I provide water per gallon. Vet suggested that this would be a good follow-up for birds after receiving antibiotics. Any suggestions?

I don't think that will mix well in water, it will probably settle out. I use Pro Bios and I make a mash with their feed and water and mix it into that so that it's well distributed. Just figure your total weight and mix that much into the feed mash. I give it in the morning and leave the dishes out until it's gone. If you have too much mash left at the end of the day make less mash next time. My birds really like their morning mash, so it usually gets all eaten up, you can sprinkle a few sunflower seeds or meal worms over it to encourage them. I divide it into several dishes so everyone can get to it, how many depends on how many birds you have.

I just checked the TSC in Elkton MD and you can get Tylan there:

I think I would use a bird specific water soluble one. Let me see what I have...

This is what I have:

Do you know or know where I can find the correct dosing of this injectable? Thank you once again for all your support. I hope you know that I am not trying to create a super bug.
There is a vet on a chicken vet facebook page that says "the dose is 0.2 ml per pound of body weight every 6-8 hours". The veterinary textbooks I have seen say pretty much the same thing.

Note that tylosin (Tylan 50 and Tylan 200) won't treat that many types of bacteria. It's a pretty good one to have if your have mycoplasma or necrotic enteritis though.
