Finding bare skin

Need to apply wormer to skin of our Narragansetts. When I separate the feathers on the back of their neck, there's quite a bit of fluffy down, dandruff, etc. Is there any tips to finding a good spot of bare skin, or some better place than the back of neck to apply? tnx
