Like Doopy said, Theres 1/2 mesh running 2 feet up over the large mesh, But that is just to stop chicks from get out. The two wood shed doors on the coop are only opened to get inside or kept open to let fresh air inside the coop during the daytime (The reason we put up a mesh frame & door, behind the shed doors) So theres no chance of rodents getting in that way.

If you look close, it looks like there is 1/2" hardware cloth from the bottom up about 18".
At first it was on the light sensor, But we had problems with it shutting too early locking them out ( It can be adjusted, But we never bothered to figure it out) Now we set it on the timer to close a half hour after dusk. Its kind of a pain to reset it a bunch of times threw the year, But its worth not taking any risks.

Thanks Alout! The doorkeeper, Metal door with frame & timer was about $300 bucks from Foys. Kind of expensive but overall it works good, I would highly recommend it!!!
