Fire ant trouble

I have a hen with 13 4 day old chicks, so they have to stay inside the pen for now which means food inside the pen ,fire ants have invaded the pen,I can't spray ,so what can I do? Anyone know?...Thanks!

You might try pouring boiling water on the fire ants...I have don't that with regular ants and killed them. Just don't get the boiling water on the chicks.

I have dug into the fire ant mound to disrupt it. Plunge a shovel into the mound and upset the structure. It doesn't take much. Most of the time they will simply move to a place where they aren't a problem.
