First 4th of July with Chickens

I had chickens for ten years in a very firework oriented city.
Why is it that the more densely populated and the more illegal fireworks are in your area, the more likely you are to hear them??

Lived in the city all my life. Nonstop fireworks (Christmas fireworks anyone?)! Moved out to the country. Barely any fireworks. And they're actually legal here! :idunno

I live just outside the city limits so people from the city tend to come to the area to set them off without worrying about it.

Do I need to do anything special to keep chickens calm for the fireworks? I'm thinking I might put them up early, but is it necessary? People around here tend to shoot them off starting around 6/7pm. Since the 4th lands on a Friday it could go all weekend. Should I just leave them in the open air run/coop and keep them fed in there for the duration?
The first time they got a bit upset, but since then my flock doesn't seem to care. And where I live we get fireworks for Cinco de Mayo and Diwali as well as July 4th, Memorial Day, and Veteran's day. Plus they've seen me shoot predators.

At this point unless it's actual thunder they don't really care. For all I know, they think somebody's shooting racoons or coyotes and they're probably thinking "good riddance."

Postscript: Mine tend to flee towards cover when they feel threatened anyway, which is most often either the coops or the roosts I built under the back deck.

I'm thinking of ending a few squirrels getting into the feeders, but that'll probably be a different post, lol.
