Yesterday I started my chicken first aid kit. So far it contains:
  • Epsom salts
  • Vetrap
  • Electrolyte powder
  • Antibiotic ointment
  • Vetericyn
  • Chlorohexidine
  • Gauze pads
  • Written instructions in curing bumblefoot
What else do I need? In my feed store I saw some scaly leg cream, and some anti peck. I may go and buy all their health products! Oh. I need calcium citrate!

-Avian antibiotics (if you are comfortable with your birds using them.

-I know you said vetwrap, but I have found having various sizes makes things much easier. 4" for body wrapping, 2" for wing wraps and 1" for feet/legs.

-Calcium Gluconate works wonders and fast for egg problems

-I keep multiple different brands of vitamin supplements since they contain various levels of different vitamins and minerals. I use according to what I'm specifically treating for.

-Probiotic Syringes for crop and digestion issues (I believe the one I use is called bene-bac, but I'll have to check)

-Needless syringes in a small size like 3cc for medications and a larger size for flushing wounds

-Chlorexidine for cleaning wounds

-Antibiotic eye ointment

-I keep a spray bottle with plain water and a brown food coloring mix to help hide wounds that are being pecked at (I don't have any white birds so it works).

-Scissors

-Tweezers

-Scalpel

-Stitch kit (If you're comfortable. I was taught by a vet how to stitch so I feel fine doing a minimal stitches).

-QuickStop or blood clotting powder

-Neoprine Chicken boots (work wonders for bumblefoot)

-A a couple plastic dog carrier for vet trips and extra large metal crates for isolation if I am trying to restrict movement

I have 3 thinner rolls and a wide one so I think I'm okay.

I'll check. I've always heard of citrate being used but I've never heard of gluconate

A scalpel is a sharp medical blade. Good ones should be sterile and individually wrapped.
