I know this is a medical question but turkey's are different than chickens and I would like the people who have these animals to give their input. I am trying to put together a sort of first aid kit for the turkeys as the vet that works on poultry is a bit far from us. Any suggestions on medications or certain tools that are good to keep on hand?

Excellent Question -

I have the following:
Latex Gloves
Poly-Vi-Sol liquid vitamins WITHOUT Iron
Needles
Syringes without needles
Guaze
Guaze Pads
Adhesive Tape
Vet Wrap
Epsom Salt
Neosporin
Baytril 136 mg tabs
Tylan 50
Tylan Powder
Wazine
Vetericyn
Electrolytes
Tweezers
Dog Nail Clippers
Scissors
Triple antibiotic ointment
Betadine Solution
Old Towels
Old Sheets
Blue Kote
Vitamin E with Selenium soft gel tabs

That's all I can think about for now. I will add more as I remember.

Quote: Safeguard for Goats or any liquid fenbendazole.
Metronidazole tablets - You can buy over the counter as Fish-Zole (250mg) and Meditrich (100mg). This place has both: http://www.jedds.com/-strse-Medicine->>-Canker-cln-Metronidazole/Categories.bok
Metronidazole liquid suspension, 50mg/ml - Need prescription from vet for this.
Baytril 100 injectable - 10mg/ml
Read this about Baytril: :https://sites.google.com/a/poultrypedia.com/poultrypedia/medicine-chart/baytril-for-birds
Scales - One small enough to weigh poults and a bigger one for larger turkeys

Yes it is, which is why I included the link about Baytril. My vet made me promise never to eat any eggs or the meat from a bird that I gave metronidazole and/or Baytril to. Which got me thinking, is metronidazole banned as well? According to this PDF it is: http://www.farad.org/publications/digests/071999ProhibitedDrugs.pdf

It's 5am here, so maybe I missed something. :)

Wow thank you all for your input... I will be at the store this weekend. Already ordered Tylan but could only find 100. I am sure I will be leaning on everyone pretty soon as we get our first set of Turkey Poults next week.

I can still get Baytril from my vet. It saved my turkey's life. Thank goodness for still being able to get Baytril. :)

Baytril is a great antibiotic and it's saved many of my animals, too.

I've purchased Baytril without a prescription many times... The link in my first post tells how to do it. Just do a search for "Baytril birds" and you'll find it there.

I won't use Baytri or metronidazole on any food producing animal, just my pets, which include turkeys and peafowl.
