How do people see bad air cells on shipped eggs? Or can I assume my air cells are just fine ?

Oh I've had my fair share of bad air cells in shipped eggs.. ones that are LARGE or full of bubbles (looks like someone tried to whip the egg with a fork).. air cells that would move all over the egg when it was rotated.. trust me.. if they are bad it's really obvious if your light is bright enough to see the air cell

I'm envisioning applying spray foam! Do you think the PC fan is having a negative effect on the LG, would still air be better? Meaning shut off the fan.

PS I have not set the eggs yet until I get this set up to my satisfaction. Patience.

Personally I prefer mine to have the fan.. others may like them without a fan.. however I found that my temps stayed more consistent throughout the bator with the fan

I have seen it when the cells have gotten "loose" They look a little "jiggly" is the best way I can describe it. I have hatched eggs like that before. I have heard people seeing like little "bubbles" all around the egg where the air cell has kinda broken up. I haven't had any like that before. Those I would be really worried about setting if you can't get the air pockets to go back to the top. I think that is when the egg has been really shook up in shipping.

I set 12 turkey eggs today. 11 at 2 PM and 1 at 8PM. Olga took her sweet time laying today and we were gone to Easter dinner this afternoon. But she had 1 in her box when we got home, so it is an even dozen! I will be setting some blue barred EE's and Cuckoo Marans next week to hatch with them.

Ok, I candled.

Couldn't see anything. Candled the silkie eggs too, just in case, they looked the same.

The worst part is I KNOW BETTER THAN THAT BUT I COULDNT CONTROL MYSELF!

I always candle on day 0.. especially for shipped eggs.. it's the best way to tell if there are any hairline cracks that need to be tended to

Yay! I got my eggs last night. The lady had 10 and they are bourbon Red turkey eggs. I also got a few quail, silkie and welsummer eggs that she had too. And on a side note my duck eggs are hatching today! They were not supposed to be here until Tuesday. I guess they wanted to be Easter ducks, and Birthday ducks (it's my birthday today too, I am now officially 30).

Oh I know we are right Linda because SCG set yesterday so she is actually on day 1.
