First Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon- Join us! Set Day: Easter

Personally, I do not require them to deliver the package before it is shipped but I would like it if they would deliver when they say they are going to deliver.

It is not listed as a tracking number for that reason. It is a delivery confirmation number.

It is scanned at the PO you drop it off at then the central sort facility for your PO. Then it is not scanned again until it reaches the sort facility for the recipient. Then again at the recipients PO, and again upon delivery.

Whatever happens to it between my sort facility and your sort facility, The Lord only knows!

Hope you get them soon!

"CS" told me with Priority Mail the tracking number only indicates when it's delivered, it really isn't intended to track the package.........................really????

Deb
so... they don't have "tracking" numbers... ok.. then why does THEIR website say "TRACK & Confirm"?

maybe to TRACK something means something totally different in USPS language!

Correct, it isn't exactly tracking - they don't have GPS or anything

There should be a record everytime the mailpiece is scanned on any of their equipment. Unfortunately not all post offices are created equal so they don't all have the same scanning capabilities. It makes a big difference where the piece is mailed from, how it is transported and how many stops are required from door to door. This is actually true for nearly every piece of mail out there. The difference is if you pay for confirmation they give you access to the information, what there is of it. We track our own mail at various levels and have seen quite a change since USPS downsizing and consolidation has begun. Things are quite a mess and not likely to get better any time soon.

My mother turned her birds, with my help, to get the crispy golden skin all over. I'm too lazy or not willing to put my 10yr old at risk of a burn ( brings thoughts of Mahonri). I'd rather not flip the darn thing; at 25 and 35 pounds it's a monster to wrestle with!

I found this out the hard way--shipped eggs to a customer and the package disappeared off the face of the earth. 5 days later it reached destination. The "tracking" is not tracking on priority, it is confirmation. Postal worker just takes the money, not clarify service. Though all this I talked to CS who talked a good talk, but was otherwise useless. One of my complaints is when I called and explained the problem, the lady was very nice going on and on about fresh foods and organic farming, ON MY DIME, finally gives me her direct line and I wait 2 days. THen I call her asking about the package. Oh, she doesn't handle the complaint, it goes to a general something-something to be assigned a case worker.

THen WHY give me the direct number to her?? SHe passes me on to the case worker, and I'm really

. She gets upset with ME, she JUST got the report, probably as I was b---itching at her.

ANd this complaint was listed by the PO, not my complaint.

THe conversation went around and around. Conformation of delivery only. Estimated date of arrival is an estimate only. How does one complain about CS?

Yes, I feel your angst--been there!

OH, the eggs took the slow boat, marked eggs, and put in a tote, hand crried to all points and 19 out of 24+ went into lockdown today!!

WHen handling large volumes of packages, hiccups do happen. I had one package be scanned 5 or 7 times by the time it arrived to an island off SC and it arrived a day early--totally squashed. With eggs leaking. I felt so bad, I sent more eggs immediately--she had a broody waiting for them.

This is my first time posting and my first time incubating, I'm glad I stumbled across this hatchalong, thanks for having me.
I am using a friend's Brinsea Octo 20 for this hatch, I fit 24 turkey eggs in it! I am most proud of the cabinet incubator I just built for experimentation, I wanted to play around and tweak it this year so we wouldn't have to buy poults from the hatchery next year. I set 30 turkey and 3 guinea eggs in it on April 2, I had very low expectations since some of the eggs were 17 days old and it was my first attempt. I candled them on Sat (day 12) and 24/30 and 3/3 were developing! I can't believe it, I prepared myself to be happy if at least 1 hatched. My expectations were also low because my temps fluctuated more then I would have liked the first week, I still can't believe how well they're doing, I can't wait to candle this batch! I had no idea how addictive incubating would be, I'm glad I built a cabinet that could hold 15 doz eggs! As I write this I have another 18 turkey eggs sitting next to me on the table waiting to reach room temperature, then into the bator! I'm building the hatcher this week and I bought 2 more turkey hens last week, so that makes 5... I think my husband is starting to get concerned :) I attribute most of my success to the wealth of knowledge I've found on this site but I also blame it for my addiction :)

Exactly!

What gets me is when there is nothing on their website, it suddenly updates and all the scans show for the last couple of days. Don't they think I might have wanted to see them? With FedEx, I can sign for a package and it is instantly updated on the website. I've gone into their system before looking to see the location of my package. It will read delivered and I know to go down the driveway to check by the gate, lol.

USPS, sometimes it will say the delivery is expected tomorrow and I already have the box in my hand. That of course is preferable to the 7 days it just took for my eggs to show up in IL.
