First Ayam Cemani Hatch

Here are the Cemanis at 15 weeks. I think this is the worst time because it's time to choose which ones to keep & which ones to cull, a decision that’s made harder because of the bond that we share. I think we can all relate to that.

On the plus side, none of the 7 show any signs of mulberry on the wattles, combs, or anywhere on the face (although as we all know this could change over time), & the shanks, feet, & toe nails look great, & I am thrilled with all 3 pullets. Their stance is exactly what I was hoping for & the colors are great.

On the flip side, there are concerns with 3 of the cockerels; I had high hopes for #1. He had all the traits I was searching for except for that flopped comb. It's too bad because he's a real looker. #3 has everything going for him as well except for the obvious which are traces of white feathers on the neck & at the base of the comb. #4 was dealt the worst hand as in a terrible stance & the flopped comb.

I would like to know what you folks think but at this point I have to go with #2 as the keeper. Please give me your honest opinion on him or any of the birds in general.

Thanks.

BTW; HAPPY 4TH!!!
