Hi everyone, I'm Sam and I'm a young guy with a passion for all things natural. I've wanted chickens for a long time and finally today I got two cuckoo marans and three ameraucanas, all just five days old. I look forward to them growing and building a coop for them.
As of right now, they will be residing in an old aquarium in my room. If the peeping is too much, then I might consider moving them to our garage or shed, but I don't wanna be too far from them since I love them so much already!
If anyone would like to offer me any tips or suggestion, I will greatly appreciate them. Thank you.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! What adorable chicks! Do you have a heat source for them? How big is the aquarium they are in? You might like to check out the BYC Learning Center, lots of good articles on all aspects of chicken keeping you'll find helpful, https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center this is a really nice one about the first few weeks of keeping chicks www.backyardchickens.com/a/how-to-raise-baby-chicks-the-first-60-days-of-raising-baby-chickens
For your coop, check out the BYC Coops section for all kinds of ideas www.backyardchickens.com/atype/2/Coop_Designs

Welcome to BYC!

Your babies are adorable! If you can't take the peeping, LOL, make sure to move them to a heated area. Garages are too drafty and could kill these babies. So stick to a room in the house with stable heat. As the temp in a room falls, so does the temp in the brooder. So find some spare room, or move them to the kitchen over night it they are disturbing your sleep. But no outdoor areas unless they are thermostatically controlled and warm at all times.

Enjoy your new babies and welcome to our flock!
