This is my first time stagering hatches.
The eggs that are hatching as we speak, are in egg cartons, I will open the bator to add more water to the troughs, just a few inches, and at the same time turn the 8 silver sebrights. I figure I have to add water every 12 hours anyhow, just in time to turn the eggs.
I do realize I don't have as much room left in the bator, with two and a half egg cartons, a small cup with water in it, the thermometer, all taking up space for the chicks.
I think every 12 hours, I will water, turn eggs, and take out any egg shells laying about.
and one of these bator openings, I wll take out any chicks that have been there 24 hours or 36 hours, to make room for the new ones.
30 chicks are a lot of chicks for the small amount of room left.
What do you think about as the chicks hatch, taking an egg that has not pipped from the half carton, and putting it in the other carton, so that I could remove the small carton first and give them more room?
Next time I hatch,I will use two bators and not have to worry about this .
Time to go count chicks and turn the sebrights!
