Bluey, congratulations on your first deer. You should try and read Patrick McManus's story on "The First Deer". I don't understand why a wife would object to having such a hard won trophy proudly displayed. You should tell her she would really like living at Opa's house. In my great room, a combination dining/living room, I'm looking at 2 mounted deer heads, 1 pronghorn antelope, 2 european style deer racks, 2 Caribou, 1 mounted squirrel, 1 glass end table w/mounted red fox, 1 turkey fans, red fox, grey fox, otter, beaver, skunk pelts, 1 wolf trap, 1 elk shed antler floor lamp, 1 large whitetail deer oil painting, 14 whitetail deer lithographs and a elk antler cribbage board. Plus the swagged curtains (GF's term) are held in place with deer skulls. Oh, I almost forgot, my mantle has relief carved caribou on the frieze. All of this started with that "first" deer.
