First Egg !!!! And a question

My sweet little EE spent days and hours in the nesting boxes before her first egg! She was SOOOOO excited but it just wasn't coming! I think she got tired of waiting with that weird sensation in her butt and jumped up to go cool off outside and "oops..." it came out in the grass next to their little water pond! LOL! Silly girl! The only other egg I found outside the coop was a soft shell egg that one of them accidently farted out and they all ate it up right away! I saw it happen it was actually pretty funny.... But yeah, they get surprised some times!

Woohoo! Too busy to fix bre-fas' yesterday, so had that first egg this morning. Don't know if this is an omen or what, but the first egg of all was a DOUBLE YOLK!

That is so great! How nice to get eggs before you even anticipate them. Mine are almost 18 weeks. One of ten is laying. Several others are making strange noises and investigating the boxes. I check on them numerous times each day just in case. I can hardly wait till more of them lay. I read on BYC that it might be as late as 28 weeks before they start. Well I guess that means really alot of little "checking up" trips to the coop.

Just curious; what flavor chickens do you have? I know it had to be one or more of my 5 EE's cuz the eggs are the most beautiful sage green. If anything, I thought it would be one of my BR's...

I have 2 BR's, 2 Iso 's and 2 black with gold chests. My brain isnt working at the moment I cant remember for the life of me . They were TSC pullet tankers

My son and his wife and baby are up from Georgia this weekend. My daughter in law, was excited, to go out and check for eggs every morning !! I am glad one of them started laying for her visit .
So far just one is laying , she has now moved her laying spot into the coop up on the poop shelf in a corner by their roost. going to get golf balls today​

Cocoa laid her first egg tonight!! Yea!!! I found it in their kiddie pool tonight so I'm not sure how long it sat in there. Will probably cook it and feed it back to them for a treat!

I'm so excited!!
