I have two EE look just like that........no eggs yet at 28 weeks.
I almost got a guinea hen until the feed store guy demonstrated their yell. Probably their single most helpful/accurate piece of info I got from them. No, no guinea eggs... I am not zoned for anything other than chickens... One day... lol
I have 1, almost identical. 24 weeks and not quite there yet either.I have two EE look just like that........no eggs yet at 28 weeks.
I am thinking about raising turkeys next year!Oh okay. Two on top are shaped similar to guinea eggs but different colored so I was curious. I love having guineas and turkeys mixed in my flock. Turkeys should be renamed Puppy Birds. I guess people don't want to eat ground puppy bird meat or have a puppy bird for Thanksgiving dinner, though.
I'm not sure her exact age, but I purchased her from the local feed store 22 weeks ago yesterday... So I am guessing she can't be more than 23 weeks old... Hopefully you'll get eggs from your EE's any day now...I have two EE look just like that........no eggs yet at 28 weeks.
The eggs on the top are my Cream Legbar eggs... The blue doesn't show up so well in this picture... As for turkeys, I have had some pretty bad experiences with them as a kid... No turkeys for me... lolOh okay. Two on top are shaped similar to guinea eggs but different colored so I was curious. I love having guineas and turkeys mixed in my flock. I've had a run in with a guinea at my mother-in-law's house... Of course, it was protecting the chicks, but still, I am not a fan... lolI almost got a guinea hen until the feed store guy demonstrated their yell. Probably their single most helpful/accurate piece of info I got from them.![]()
Oh my.... if you haven't heard a Nubian goat yell, I promise my neighbors have! And so I guess I won't add guinea noise to the current symphony of egg songs, crowing, barking, howling, bleating or whatever else my neighbors might hear coming from us.We mostly keep it down though.
I Always let them know to talk with me if they have issues and I will work to resolve it, within reason. I have good neighbors and I am a good neighbor as well. No good fences isn't what makes good neighbors, but it does help.![]()
I was concerned about it because she is still a small bird and the egg she laid was quite large in comparison... Was it the same for you?I've had it happen with a couple of my girls. Ghost was only 4mos when she laid her first egg. My youngest ones have all started laying just before 5mos except for one of them who still hasn't laid yet (she's almost 6mos now).
