I just found one of my twins (sugar & Spice) in the nest box. That is a good sign. She got out really fast like "I am not suppose to be in there" look on her face. Now how long till she will lay? Well I now know how long, A hour or so.
This is it on the scale at 43 grams
This is next to one of Lousie's egg which is a large egg at 61 grams
Finally! We got our first egg! Im so excited and proud of my girls! Here's the first pic, Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
I heard a crazy comotion comming from the coop and ran out to see what was attacking them. When I found them to be ok I decided to feed them & clean their coop and this is what I found. Pretty sure it came from my BO mix, her comb & waddles have been bright red for almost a month. My RSL's (a week younger) have been red for probably 2 weeks now, and my GSL & BSL are a month behind them. Hopefully this is the begining of my girls giving us eggs and the end of me buying them :-D
I can now add my BR and multiple generation olive egger to the thread for the waiting game. They are now 22 weeks old. Still nothing from the three 30 week old freeloaders.
I don't breed BR's, although they are gorgeous enough that if I had the room I would. I wanted a pullet with the crisp barring, it's just so pretty. She is from Kathyinmo BR breeding and Olive is also from her stock. As far as I know, Olive is a multiple generation Olive egger crossed back to a BCM. (she's got the feathered shanks of the BCM) She is absolutely huge. This picture shows her size against my barnevelder rooster and the production red in the back.
Oh yes, I can see the shanks now (was too busy admiring how fluffy her behind to notice
)
And it's officially your fault that my co-workers just looked at me funny when I laughed at that poor rooster being loomed over by your beautiful girl. She IS huge!
