So Mole Negro my black Ameraucana that laid her 1st egg 2 weeks ago tomorrow has laid a whopping 10 eggs in 13 days!!!

I thought Ameraucana's weren't supposed to be such great layers .... Hey I am not complaining. I figure she is making up for waiting so long to lay!!!
 
I heard that some laid more than others. I don't remember what they said about Black, but Wheaten was suppose to be the best.

We got our first egg on Saturday and another today (Monday)!!! Yay!!

Our three girls (2 Australorps and 1 Australorp/ New Hampshire cross) are just 22 weeks. I had noticed some different noises coming from the pen in the morning for the last couple of days, but there were no eggs when we let them out. We were out for most of the day on Saturday, but when we got home there was a perfect little pullet egg in the nest box, and another today when I came home from work.

I'm not sure which of the girls is responsible - I think it is Pepa who looks the most developed of the three, but she has never squatted. Spindarella, the xbreed started squatting a week ago but doesn't look red enough to be laying yet so who knows!!

We are super stoked with our perfect little eggs.... two more and we'll have breakfast :)
 
Since day one, 5 days ago, they have laid an egg a day! I thought they were supposed to start off slow? Only 2 of my three have started laying, but I've gotten 2 a day everyday! Is this rare? I'm so proud of my girls!
 
Grats everyone! Wow so many people are getting their first eggs! And their pullets are being so civilized about it! Most of my pullets laid in the run, as if they were surprised to have an egg pop out. *sigh* I have barbarian chickens.
 
Well, I have a mix of RIR, BSL, BR and they all have been laying pretty consistantly for about 2 weeks now. I am so excited since they are 7 months old and this is my first real egg experience!! I even had a double yolker the other day!! So far so good. I've been learning a lot here and sooo glad I found this site! My daughter loves collecting and it's been quite fun!!
 
yay for the first eggs - I remember waiting and waiting and waiting, and posting! Just the other day I got 17 eggs from 18 hens! We now have 6 new chicks, so the waiting for them begins!

That's great!! I've had 3 eggs in four days so far - so I'm pretty happy with how my first layer is going too. She's setting a fine example for the other girls when they start :)
