First Egg Countdown

I have three 29 wk old pullets......one's crazy, and the other two look ready. Then, right when i left on my flight on friday with my mom and sister, my dad texteda pic of a light brown egg and said we had another today. Iam soo excited, and i wonder if it was my barred rock or production red.... do any of ya'll have any idea? Thanks to any ideas!!!

Maybe you can post a pic of both of them so folks can see which one is more developed. You should also post a pic of the egg. I bet it killed you to miss the first egg, but it will be just as exciting to collect the eggs when you get home.

I have an EE that is just a little over 4 months old. She has been crying for the last couple of hours. I brought her inside and called the only local friend into chickens that I have. She says it sounds like she is trying to lay her first egg and to just separate her and wait and see. Does this sound possible? I've had her for 4 months old and when I picked her up, she was already feathered so it is possible that she is older than 4 months. Could she be trying to pass her first egg? What can I do to help her? She just pooped, if she had an impacted egg, wouldn't it not allow her to poop? it was a nice solid healthy looking poop.

Please post a picture when you can. Either one could have laid the first egg.

I would have guessed the production red would be first from experience and reading Breed descriptions. They can have some serious overlap with individuals between BRs and RIRs LOL.

Maranda, the blue Marans in my avatar, is turning out to be a great layer. She laid her first egg on Monday, took Tuesday and Wednesday off and then laid an egg Thursday, Friday and Saturday. They are nice eggs too.

Yeah. Mine has laid for 3 days straight for her first, no poop on it, in the nesting box, fairly large. She's great. this is her first egg. It is pretty big and this is it....Unwashed! :D I am so excited!

This is Penny! She is the layer :) She's great and fairly nice :)

She is a beauty.

This counting down is such fun. I have a RIR and a barred rock that are both 17 1/2 weeks and 2 black sex linked that are 16 weeks old. The barred rock seems to squat down quite a bit at seemingly random times. I am hopeful that there will be eggs in my near future.
